Current Safety Campaigns

Madison County Sheriff's Office

The Madison County Sheriff’s Office  participates in the CLICK IT or TICKET safety campaign which runs from Monday, May 24 through Sunday, June 6. The annual Click It or Ticket campaign aims at enforcing seat belt use to help keep travelers safe as they drive to their summer destinations. According to the Kentucky Office of Highway Safety, there were 780 highway fatalities in 2020, of which 592 were occupants of motor vehicles. Of those killed in the crashes, 338 were not wearing a seat belt, car seat or booster seat. Six of the 338 were children ages nine and under, four of which were improperly restrained.

Buckling up is the single most effective thing you can do to protect yourself in a crash. Seat belts are the best defense against impaired, aggressive, and distracted drivers. Being buckled up during a crash helps keep you safe and secure inside your vehicle; being completely ejected from a vehicle is almost always deadly.
